Creation of awareness through educationprograms should be encouraged to help enlighten various individuals of the existinginterventions for diabetes. Also, the education programs educate individuals on self-managementtechniques for diabetes including eating healthy foods and engaging regular physical activities.Notably, more funds should directed toward curbing the prevalence of diabetes and healthprofessionals should possess high levels of expertise to ensure that they deliver culturallycompetent care o diabetic patients.3Disease background and mechanismsDiabetes is a chronic disease that affects many individuals globally. Diabetes usuallyoccurs when the pancreas does not produce sufficient amount of insulin. Also, diabetes can resultwhen the body is unable to effectively use the insulin it yields. Notably, insulin is the hormonethat is accountable for regulation of sugar levels in human body. Uncontrolled sugar levels in thebody can result in great damage to many organs, especially nerves and other blood vessels(World Health Organization, 2021). A critical examination of the prevalence of diabetes on aglobal basis indicates that in 2014, approximately 8.5% of adults were diagnosed with diabetes.Importantly, in 2016, diabetes resulted in about 1.6 million deaths. Notably, the number ofdeaths caused by diabetes in low and middle income countries is higher as compared to highincome countries.Importantly, diabetes presents itself in two main forms. Firstly, we have Type 2 diabetes.Notably, Type 2 diabetes is mainly caused by the inability of the human body to effectivelyutilize insulin. Type 2 diabetes is the most prevalent among many individuals (World HealthOrganization, 2021). Obesity and inadequate physical activities are some of the risk factors forType 2 diabetes. As much as the indicators of Type 2 diabetes may be similar to Type 1 diabetes,there exist some differences between the two forms of diabetes. Recent findings about diabetesindicate that Type 2 diabetes affect both adults and children, which was not the case in the past.We also have Type 1 diabetes, which is mainly caused by deficiency in insulin production.Individuals with Type 1 diabetes often require daily administration of insulin.
