Besides, the company has been in a position to produce products and services that meet the needs of the clients. Through innovation and utilization of appropriate technologies, Abbott Laboratories has been in a position to produce some of the best medical products and this has provided it with an advantage over its rivals. Updates on 3M Company: Tough Regulations The company operations, through the years, have been characterized by moments of peaks and troughs which businessmen have always described as normal business curve. The company draws its primary clients from the health care industry, a heavily regulated industry by both federal and state governments. The biggest undoing, which forms majority of trough moments in the history of the company s operations, has been the ever changing congressional legislations that keep on shaping the scope and manufacturing environment of the 3M Company. The compliance to the 1976 Medical Device Amendments to the Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act has always presented a lot of confusion and ambiguities (Reuters 2019). Abbot Laboratories: Changing Tax Policies The changing corporate tax policies between Democratic Party presidents and Republican Party presidents over the years starting with President Reagan in 1980 has come to influence internal financial planning of the company. For instance, the Obama administration which ascended to power in 2008 amidst economic depression aggressively increased corporate taxes to high new levels. The company had to streamline its operations to maintain revenues.
